  • Total established length of approximately 16 miles 

  • Outlets to the Detroit River 

  • Drain serves as the primary stormwater outlet and conveyance system for over 50,000 properties located in following cities:   

    • City of Allen Park  

    • City of Dearborn Heights   

    • City of Ecorse  

    • City of Inkster  

    • City of Lincoln Park  

    • City of Melvindale  

    • City of Romulus  

    • City of Taylor  

    • City of Westland  

Stormwater runoff from precipitation such as rain and snow enters the drain via overland flow, private and municipal storm sewers, county drains, or watercourses within the Drain’s watershed. The purpose of the Drain is serve as the primary outlet for the conveyance methods listed above and to ultimately convey stormwater downstream to the Detroit River. 

Under the leadership of Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans, the Wayne County Drain Commissioner received a $10 million dollar grant to perform maintenance on the North Branch Ecorse Creek Drain
